About Project 4 Hope

Our mission is to put an end to veteran homelessness and suicide in North Louisiana. 2023 veteran suicide rates from National Veteran Suicide Prevention rose in our military/veterans by 11.6%. There were 6,392 deaths by suicide in 2021, up 114, up from 2020. That represented an 11.3% increase. And in the third quarter of last year, 154 service members lost their lives to suicide, up about 22% from 126 the previous year. COVID was very hard on most of our veterans, who already feel alone. Homelessness and suicide rates in veterans have been proven to have a correlation and our hope is that providing a safe space to live in, counseling and other services to integrate into society we can lower suicide and homelessness rates of veterans in North Louisiana. With our 8-acre tiny house community, we can do just that.

Our goal is to have at least 15 cabins on the property with a community center and services available for all residents, which we are implementing in phases. Over a 4-year period we were able to raise enough funds for the purchase of 8 acres in Arcadia and 4 cabin-like homes for our veterans to be housed. We are almost complete with phase one, which is having 4 cabins, our septic system, electricity, and water well complete. We are finishing up renovating the cabins and look forward to having our grand opening in May of this year. The funding for 2 cabins and drilling the well were secured within the past year through fundraising events and solicitation of funds from multiple organizations. We are also currently clearing more of the property to put the Community Center and 2 more cabins in the next 6-9 months.
